Apple's 2025 Report Card: The Brutal Truth REVEALED!

Apple's 2025 Report Card: The Brutal Truth REVEALED!

As 2025 draws to a close, a year of remarkable innovation from Apple comes into focus. From groundbreaking iPhones to powerful new chips, the company delivered a wave of products that redefined expectations. This is a look back at the releases that truly resonated, the ones that pushed boundaries and captivated users.

The iPhone 17 wasn’t merely the best iPhone of the year; it was a leap forward, arguably the best in five years. Apple finally unleashed features long considered standard for a premium device – double the storage, a fluid 120Hz ProMotion display, a stunning 50 percent increase in peak brightness, and an always-on display. These enhancements, coupled with improved cameras, speed, and battery life, all arrived without a price increase. It redefined value in the iPhone lineup.

Beyond hardware, Apple made significant strides in software. iOS 26 introduced a powerful Call Screening feature, silently answering unknown numbers to identify their purpose. This, combined with enhanced spam filtering in Messages, Phone, and FaceTime, marked a turning point in the fight against unwanted calls and messages. A noticeable reduction in daily interruptions became a welcome reality for many.

A vibrant splash of color emerged with the iPhone 17 Pro’s Cosmic Orange finish. A bold departure from recent muted tones, this hue signaled a return to Apple’s playful design roots. It was a refreshing shock to the system, instantly recognizable and inspiring a wave of matching accessories.

In a surprising twist, Apple unveiled the iPhone Pocket – a 3D-knitted enclosure designed to protect and carry your iPhone alongside everyday items. A collaboration with Issey Miyake, it came in a range of striking colors and, against all odds, quickly sold out. It was an unexpected, yet undeniably Apple, moment.

However, not every venture was a success. Liquid Glass, Apple’s ambitious new design language for OS 26, proved to be a misstep. While intended to add “fun and magic,” it ultimately prioritized flamboyance over functionality, a departure from the principles of thoughtful design.

The Mac Studio, powered by the M3 Ultra chip, emerged as the standout Mac of the year. Released slightly ahead of schedule, it delivered unparalleled performance, surpassing even the M2 Ultra Mac Pro by a significant margin. At a considerably lower price, it effectively rendered the Mac Pro obsolete for most users.

Apple’s silicon continued to dominate, with the M5 chip setting a new standard for performance and efficiency. Debuting in the MacBook Pro, it offered an unprecedented combination of processing power, graphics capabilities, and energy conservation. Its capabilities were so impressive that Apple delayed the release of Pro and Max variants until the following year.

The Mac Pro, however, remained stuck in the past. While other Macs benefited from the latest M4 and M5 chips, the Mac Pro continued to rely on the aging M2 Ultra. With a price tag exceeding $10,000, its outdated processor felt like a significant oversight.

The iPad Pro M5 stood out in a year of incremental iPad updates. While three of Apple’s four iPad models received chip refreshes, the iPad Pro’s M5 chip delivered a truly noticeable performance boost. Combined with increased RAM, faster Wi-Fi, and fast charging, it justified a pro-level upgrade.

iPadOS 26 was a transformative update, finally delivering the multitasking and productivity features iPad users had long desired. Resizable windows and a macOS-like interface breathed new life into the platform, unlocking its full potential.

The Apple Watch SE 3 proved to be the smart choice for many. Offering nearly the same functionality as the higher-end Series 11 at a significantly lower price, it included an always-on display, improved battery life, enhanced durability, and new health features. It was the perfect balance of features and value.

In the realm of Apple TV, “Pluribus” captivated audiences with its unpredictable narrative and compelling characters. A sci-fi drama from Vince Gilligan, it seamlessly blended humor, mystery, and emotional depth, earning recognition as Apple TV’s standout show of the year.

Finally, Apple News+ quietly emerged as a hidden gem. The addition of original puzzles, like Emoji Game, and a clutter-free recipe search function with integrated timers and ingredient lists, transformed the service into a truly valuable resource.
