Police responded to reports from worried parents on Thursday, initiating an investigation into the suspicious activity. The suspect is described as a man between 30 and 40 years old, approximately six feet tall with a slender build and a short brown beard.
He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket and a black and grey cross-body bag. Investigators are urging anyone with information about this individual to come forward.
Elsewhere in the city, tragedy struck on Eglinton Avenue near the Don Valley Parkway. A 60-year-old woman died Sunday evening following a complex collision involving multiple vehicles.
The woman was exiting the DVP when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle continued straight through traffic instead of merging onto Eglinton. This led to a series of impacts, including collisions with both eastbound and westbound vehicles.
Emergency services transported the woman to a trauma centre, but she succumbed to her injuries. Another individual was treated for minor injuries. The area remained closed as police investigated the circumstances surrounding the crash.
In Oshawa, a man is recovering in hospital after a shooting early Sunday morning. Durham Regional Police responded to reports of an armed individual in the Simcoe-Bond Streets area.
Officers discovered a wounded man and immediately transported him to a Toronto-area trauma centre. His condition has since been upgraded to stable, and an investigation is underway.
Scarborough residents experienced a scare when shots were fired at a vehicle Sunday morning. The driver reported being targeted by occupants of another vehicle in the Warden Avenue-Ellesmere Road area.
Fortunately, no one was injured, but the vehicle sustained damage consistent with gunfire. Police are currently searching for a silver SUV believed to be involved in the incident.
North York is also the focus of a police investigation following an aggravated assault on December 8th. A 35-year-old man is currently wanted in connection with the attack.
