TRUMP-KENNEDY CENTER: Radical Plan to RECLAIM American Culture!

TRUMP-KENNEDY CENTER: Radical Plan to RECLAIM American Culture!

A wave of cancellations has swept through the performing arts center, as some artists publicly protested its recent name change. These performers, seemingly more interested in making a statement than making art, have withdrawn from scheduled engagements, one dance company reportedly forfeiting $40,000 in the process.

However, these actions feel less like principled stands and more like calculated moves. It’s likely these groups will leverage this controversy for fundraising and attention for years to come. The question now is: how does the center’s leadership navigate this environment of ideological refusal and forge a path forward?

A surprising oversight exists within the center’s structure – the absence of a dedicated artistic director. Currently, each performance division operates with independent leadership. Appointing a single, visionary artistic director is crucial, and David Mamet possesses the unique talent and reputation to fill that role.

Mamet’s artistic integrity is undeniable. His work, like the iconic “Glengarry Glen Ross,” transcends political divides, compelling actors of all persuasions. He also commands a vast network of connections within the artistic and production worlds, making him an ideal figurehead for the center.

The center should also strategically shift its focus, expanding beyond classical music and dance to embrace the power of straight plays. Broadway has demonstrated the immense draw of limited-run productions featuring well-known actors, even with challenging material like Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot.”

Numerous talented actors, from Kelsey Grammar to Patricia Heaton, lean conservative or prioritize art over politics. Securing five such productions annually would significantly boost attendance, and straight plays are comparatively inexpensive to produce.

While musicals shouldn’t be abandoned, the center should explore musical genres that appeal to a broader American audience. Country music is an obvious choice, but even rap music, as demonstrated by recent collaborations, contains artists willing to cross ideological lines. Imagine a vibrant country revue or even a groundbreaking gangsta rap musical.

The boycott by certain established artists should be viewed as an opportunity for innovation, not a cause for surrender. While some elites may snub the center, countless artists would eagerly embrace the chance to perform there, even at modest compensation.

The center’s stunning location, with its breathtaking views of the Potomac River, offers untapped potential. Hosting outdoor events – swing dancing, pop concerts, even a chili cook-off – would attract a wider audience and familiarize local residents with the venue.

The ultimate goal is to transform the center into a regular destination for everyday people, not just the wealthy elite. Consistent, accessible programming is key to achieving this, fostering a sense of community and belonging.

If those who disdain President Trump and, perhaps, America itself, deem the center unworthy, so be it. There is a wealth of talent eager for this opportunity. Building a following takes time, but it is a goal within reach, and one that is profoundly worthwhile.

The year 2026 presents a pivotal moment. With strategic leadership and a commitment to inclusive, innovative programming, the center can truly flourish, becoming a vibrant cultural hub for all.
