A significant shift has occurred within MG Philippines, as a new leader takes the helm. Wei Wei Zhang has been appointed as the new president, stepping into a role previously held by Felix Jiang, a figure instrumental in establishing the brand’s foothold in the Philippine automotive landscape.
Jiang’s three-year tenure was marked by remarkable success, transforming MG from a newcomer into a prominent force. He guided the company to unprecedented sales figures in 2024, achieving dominance in the competitive 1.5L sedan category and consistently securing a place among the nation’s top ten automotive brands.
Under Jiang’s direction, MG Philippines broadened its offerings, embracing a diverse portfolio that now includes vehicles powered by petrol, diesel, hybrid technology, and fully electric drivetrains. This expansion, coupled with a strategic focus on strengthening the brand’s presence across the country, solidified MG’s position in the market.
Zhang arrives with a proven track record of success within the MG family. Previously president of MG Indonesia, he later served within SAIC Motor’s Shanghai headquarters, overseeing strategic initiatives across the entire ASEAN region. His expertise is expected to fuel continued expansion and innovation.
Karl Magsuci, Vice-President of MG Philippines, expressed deep gratitude for Jiang’s leadership and contributions. He voiced confidence that Zhang’s regional insight and strategic vision will propel the company forward, reinforcing its dedication to providing cutting-edge and sustainable mobility solutions to Filipino customers.
This transition signals a new chapter for MG Philippines, building upon a foundation of growth and innovation. The appointment of Zhang underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening its presence and delivering advanced automotive technology to the Philippine market.
