A groundbreaking innovation in home security emerged at CES, promising to eliminate a common frustration for smart lock owners: battery anxiety. Lockin unveiled the V7 Max, a mortise-style entry lock that doesn’t rely on batteries at all, earning it a prestigious CES 2026 Innovation Award.
The secret lies in Lockin’s AuraCharge technology, a revolutionary power system. Instead of traditional power sources, the V7 Max receives continuous, wireless energy from a dedicated transmitter that beams light to a sensor panel within the lock itself.
This isn’t solar power, and it isn’t a rechargeable battery. The AuraCharge transmitter, plugged into a standard wall outlet and positioned within 13 feet of the lock, delivers a constant stream of power using eye-safe optical output, functioning reliably regardless of ambient light.
Lockin positions AuraCharge as a “fourth generation” of smart lock power, finally addressing the worry of a dead battery leaving you locked out or compromising security. The system is engineered for consistent performance in any climate and installation scenario.
Beyond its power source, the V7 Max is a technological powerhouse. It boasts triple biometric authentication, utilizing finger-vein, palm-vein, and 3D facial recognition for unparalleled security.
Two high-definition exterior cameras provide comprehensive video doorbell capabilities, offering a panoramic view of your entryway. Dual 5-inch touchscreens on both sides of the door allow for easy visitor viewing, access management, and direct interaction with the lock.
Lockin has also integrated LockinAI, a sophisticated software platform that automates tasks like package detection, theft prevention, and visitor management. The system even offers searchable video indexing for quick review of recorded footage.
Connectivity is seamless thanks to Matter support, ensuring compatibility with major smart home ecosystems including Google, Apple, Amazon, and Samsung – all without the need for a separate hub.
The V7 Max’s sleek industrial design, led by Hartmut Esslinger – formerly Apple’s chief designer – is remarkably slim at just 15mm, despite its advanced features. Lockin will offer professional installation to ensure a precise fit for replacing existing mortise locks.
AuraCharge technology isn’t limited to the V7 Max. Lockin plans to integrate it into a redesigned version of its popular Veno Pro smart lock in early 2026, maintaining a price point around $350.
Preorders for the V7 Max will open in January, with shipments expected to begin in early March 2026, marking a significant leap forward in smart home security and convenience.
