SWITCH 2 JUST BROKE REALITY: XREAL AR Unleashed!

At CES 2026, a new dimension of gaming unfolded. For the first time, I experienced the Nintendo Switch 2 in augmented reality, a feat previously hindered by compatibility issues. The Switch 2 hadn’t readily embraced AR glasses, until now.

XREAL, already renowned for their AR glasses, has bridged the gap with the NEO. Smaller than existing solutions, the NEO is a powerful combination of portable battery and AR adapter, seamlessly powering and connecting your XREAL glasses while simultaneously charging your device.

The NEO boasts a substantial 10,000 mAh battery and 20W output for fast charging, with the ability to reach 65W+ when plugged into a wall. It’s not limited to the Switch 2 either; it breathes new life into the original Switch and even extends compatibility to handhelds like the Steam Deck.

Connecting the Switch 2 to the NEO was remarkably smooth. The console instantly recognized the connection, transitioning to docked mode and projecting gameplay onto the XREAL glasses as if onto a massive television. The result? A breathtaking virtual 171-inch screen displaying visuals at a crisp 1200p.

But the experience didn’t stop at size and resolution. The graphics appeared in stunning 3D, thanks to the new XREAL 1S AR glasses. These glasses represent a significant upgrade, boosting resolution to 1200p and expanding the field of view to 52 degrees, all while maintaining a fluid 120Hz refresh rate and increased brightness.

The XREAL 1S’s most impressive feature is its ability to convert 2D content into immersive 3D. I tested it with *Mario Kart World*, and the effect was astonishing – so convincing, I questioned if the game was originally designed for 3D. The depth was subtle, natural, and completely free of visual artifacts.

This 3D conversion happens entirely within the glasses, powered by a dedicated spatial chip and advanced AI. While the effect is most pronounced with CGI-heavy content, even older games can benefit, though results may vary. The AI intelligently interprets the scene, adding depth where appropriate.

For those who cherish 3D movies, the XREAL 1S offers a compelling solution. It breathes new life into your existing library, transforming flat content into an immersive experience. And surprisingly, the XREAL 1S is more affordable than its predecessor, priced at $449.

The 2D-to-3D conversion technology, dubbed Real 3D, is also available as an update for existing XREAL ONE Pro owners. The XREAL NEO is currently available for pre-order at $99 until February 4th, increasing to $119 afterward, with shipments beginning in February. The combined cost of both the NEO and the 1S is $548.

This isn’t just about bigger screens; it’s about rediscovering the magic of 3D gaming, all while maintaining the portability we’ve come to love. It’s a glimpse into a future where immersive gaming experiences are accessible to everyone, everywhere.
