TRUMP'S MADURO FAILURE: WAR IS COMING!

TRUMP'S MADURO FAILURE: WAR IS COMING!

Six years ago, Senator Chuck Schumer fiercely criticized President Trump’s vision for Venezuela, dismissing his promise to dismantle Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship as a failed policy. He argued Maduro’s power was *growing*, not diminishing, under Trump’s watch, a sentiment echoed alongside similar critiques of policies toward North Korea, China, and Russia.

The irony is now stark. Following a clandestine U.S. operation, Maduro himself is in American custody, facing serious narcotics charges in a New York courtroom. Yet, Schumer’s tone has dramatically shifted, now warning of a potential “endless war” ignited by the very removal of the dictator he once claimed Trump couldn’t topple.

Trump had boldly declared Maduro’s tyranny would be “smashed and broken,” even inviting Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó to a State of the Union address as the “legitimate” leader. But Guaidó’s presence, Schumer argued at the time, was proof of policy failure – a leader in exile instead of ruling in Caracas.

The recent operation unfolded with swift precision. Maduro and his wife were captured and transported to the U.S., indicted on charges ranging from narco-terrorism to weapons conspiracy. These weren’t new accusations; initial indictments were filed years earlier, but Maduro remained untouchable – until now.

The speed and secrecy of the operation have sparked outrage among some Democrats. Schumer vehemently protested the lack of congressional notification, claiming the administration bypassed the law by conducting military actions within Venezuela, including strikes on both civilian and military sites.

He fears a dangerous precedent, a return to the “endless wars” Trump repeatedly vowed to avoid. The concern isn’t about Maduro’s removal, but *how* it was achieved, raising questions about executive overreach and the potential for escalating conflict.

Senator Chris Murphy echoed these concerns, pointing out the existence of numerous “evil, brutal dictators” worldwide, but arguing that doesn’t grant the President the authority to unilaterally intervene. He cautioned against repeating past mistakes and the unpredictable consequences of such actions.

The Trump administration, however, defends the operation as a resounding success, emphasizing that it was executed without any U.S. casualties. Officials maintain it didn’t require congressional approval, characterizing it as a targeted, limited action – a delicate mission where secrecy was paramount to prevent leaks and ensure success.

The debate now centers on the boundaries of presidential power and the potential ramifications of this bold move. Was it a decisive blow against a criminal regime, or a reckless gamble that could destabilize an already volatile region and draw the U.S. into a protracted conflict?
