TRUMP UNLEASHES: Enemies of the GOP Will PAY!

A storm of presidential disapproval erupted Thursday as Donald Trump publicly condemned five Republican senators who dared to challenge his authority on military intervention. The rebuke came swiftly and fiercely, delivered through his social media platform, and left little room for interpretation: he wants them out of office.

The dissent stemmed from a bipartisan resolution spearheaded by Senator Tim Kaine, designed to limit the President’s power to authorize further military action in Venezuela. It was a rare moment of defiance within a Senate largely aligned with Trump’s agenda, a crack in the Republican wall.

Senators Susan Collins, Todd Young, Lisa Murkowski, Josh Hawley, and Rand Paul broke ranks, arguing for congressional oversight even while acknowledging the success of the recent operation to capture former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. They sought a clear voice for Congress in any future deployments.

Trump’s response was immediate and scathing. He accused the senators of undermining American self-defense and national security, directly calling for their defeat in upcoming elections. His message resonated with a clear, uncompromising demand for loyalty.

The situation is particularly fraught for Senator Collins, already facing a challenging re-election bid in Maine. The state’s Democratic governor has entered the Senate race, intensifying the pressure on the incumbent.

The senators who supported the resolution emphasized their support for the initial operation, codenamed “Absolute Resolve,” praising its precision. However, they drew a firm line against prolonged or expanded military involvement without explicit congressional approval.

Lawmakers had received briefings from administration officials throughout the week, outlining potential next steps in Venezuela. These briefings, however, did not quell the senators’ concerns about unchecked presidential power.

Collins specifically stated that while she applauded the capture of Maduro, she would not support further U.S. military commitment in Venezuela or Greenland without a clear mandate from Congress. The precision of the operation, she acknowledged, did not negate the need for accountability.

Trump dismissed the congressional concerns, labeling the War Powers Act “unconstitutional” and a violation of the President’s authority as Commander in Chief. He cited past legal opinions from previous administrations to bolster his claim.

Despite his rejection of Congress’s authority, Trump acknowledged another Senate vote on the issue is looming next week, signaling a continued battle over the limits of presidential power in matters of war and foreign policy.
