A chilling discovery unfolded this week as authorities executed search warrants leading to the arrest of two individuals in Toronto. The investigation, sparked by allegations of drug trafficking, revealed a hidden arsenal and a significant quantity of dangerous narcotics.
During the searches of a residence and a vehicle, officers seized a loaded Glock 27 handgun, complete with a magazine containing nine rounds of ammunition. Alongside the firearm, investigators recovered a staggering amount of illicit drugs: 1,640 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 680 grams of fentanyl, and 605 grams of cocaine.
The haul didn’t stop there. Over $7,290 in Canadian currency, along with drug packaging materials and precise digital scales, were also confiscated, painting a clear picture of a sophisticated drug operation. Both suspects now face a multitude of serious charges.
Chance Jeffers, 29, and Hope Kinsman, 26, both of Toronto, are each accused of three counts of drug trafficking, five firearm-related offences, and violations of release orders. They also face charges related to possessing the proceeds of crime, exceeding $5,000.
Just days before Christmas, a brutal stabbing in Oshawa claimed the life of 44-year-old Jeremy Russell. He was discovered on a roadway suffering from critical stab wounds and later died at a Toronto trauma centre.
The initial investigation led to the arrest of Nicholas Robbins, 33, of Oshawa, who was charged with second-degree murder. However, the case took another turn with the arrest of a second suspect, Michael Waterman, 44, also of Oshawa.
Waterman was initially apprehended by Peterborough Regional Police in connection with a separate homicide. He was subsequently transferred to Durham Regional Police custody and charged with second-degree murder in Russell’s death, deepening the mystery surrounding the events of that night.
New Year’s Day celebrations at Woodside Square Mall in Scarborough were shattered by a violent assault. A group of four individuals – two men and two women – engaged in a brutal altercation with a male and female victim inside a restaurant.
The conflict quickly escalated, spilling out into the mall and resulting in a vicious attack that left both victims with significant injuries, though thankfully not life-threatening. The four suspects then fled the scene, leaving investigators scrambling for leads.
Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects. The first is a man, 20-30 years old, wearing glasses, a black jacket, and light-colored pants. The second is a similar-looking man, also 20-30, with glasses, a dark jacket, and black pants.
The female suspects are described as follows: one woman, 25-30 years old, wearing all black clothing, and another, 20-30 years old, wearing a green hoodie. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
A seemingly routine parking enforcement encounter downtown took a dangerous turn when a 33-year-old man allegedly threatened a Parking Enforcement Officer. The officer, in the process of issuing tickets near King Street West and Dufferin Street, was confronted by the irate individual.
Quick thinking by the officer, who activated an emergency assistance button, led to the suspect’s arrest. A subsequent search revealed a quantity of drugs in his possession. Sheldon Lennox Ellis, of Mississauga, now faces charges including uttering threats and multiple counts of substance possession for trafficking.
