A late-night assault in Toronto’s east end has led to the arrest of two men, but police are urgently seeking a woman believed to have been involved. The incident unfolded Tuesday evening near Greenwood and Danforth Avenues, leaving one man injured and a community on edge.
According to police reports, a man was approached by a woman and two men. The situation quickly escalated into a violent assault, with the woman allegedly wielding a makeshift weapon. The victim managed to escape, but not before sustaining injuries that required hospitalization.
Bystanders quickly alerted authorities, leading to a swift response from Toronto Police. Officers located and apprehended two male suspects at the scene. Peter Blake, 35, and Michael Ayue Beny, 44, both face charges of assault causing bodily harm.
The female suspect remains at large. She was last seen heading east on Danforth Avenue, described as being between 5’5” and 5’7” with long, dark hair and a medium to heavy build. She was wearing a distinctive black Canada Goose coat, black pants, and brown boots.
In a separate investigation, police have charged a man and a woman with human trafficking offenses. The investigation, which began in October, alleges a female victim was subjected to deception, coercion, and control.
Romelle Morgan, 33, and Feza Ngongo, 21, both of Toronto, were arrested on December 30th. Investigators believe the accused used online advertisements, including sexualized images, to facilitate the trafficking of the victim throughout Southern Ontario.
Police express concern that additional victims may exist and are actively pursuing leads. The charges against Morgan include procuring and violating a probation order, while Ngongo faces charges related to trafficking and advertising sexual services.
Anyone with information regarding either the assault or the human trafficking case is urged to contact Toronto Police or Crime Stoppers anonymously. The safety of the community and the pursuit of justice remain paramount.
