WATCH: Bodycam for Ohio dentist murders shows police went to wrong home before couple was found dead

A chilling sequence of events unfolded in Columbus, Ohio, leading to the tragic deaths of a dentist and his wife. Newly released body camera footage reveals a critical error in the initial response to a welfare check, a mistake that added precious minutes to the timeline.

The first officer dispatched to check on Spencer and Monique Tepe arrived at the wrong address. The video shows the officer diligently performing a standard check – knocking repeatedly and calling out to see if anyone was home. Despite a thorough exterior search of the property, no one answered, and the officer ultimately left, believing the house to be unoccupied.

Forty minutes later, a second call came in. This time, it was from concerned co-workers of Dr. Tepe, alarmed by his absence from work. A friend went to the couple’s home and made the horrifying discovery: Spencer, 37, and Monique, 39, were found deceased inside.

Police Chief Elaine Bryant confirmed the initial address error, stating the officer followed protocol but was at the incorrect location. Investigators have definitively ruled out a murder-suicide, focusing their efforts on identifying a perpetrator.

Detectives are meticulously examining a substantial amount of evidence, including surveillance footage from the neighborhood. They’ve received a flood of tips from the public through various channels – phone calls, emails, social media, and in-person reports.

A grainy surveillance video of a person of interest walking near the Tepe home in the early morning hours of December 30th has been released. Authorities believe the murders occurred between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. and are urgently seeking any additional video or photographic evidence from that timeframe.

Investigators have noted no obvious signs of forced entry into the home, and the weapon used in the killings remains unfound. The couple’s young children were thankfully found safe within the residence.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging patience from the public while they continue to analyze evidence and pursue leads. Chief Bryant acknowledged public concern but emphasized the need to protect the integrity of the investigation by limiting public releases.

Detectives are working to determine the identity and role of the individual captured in the surveillance footage, stating that the evidence will ultimately reveal their connection to the case. The search for answers continues as the community mourns the loss of the Tepe family.
