CANADA FIRST CHAOS: 9 ACTIVISTS BUSTED IN EXPLOSIVE CLASH!

A disturbing scene unfolded at Toronto’s City Hall this past Saturday, escalating far beyond typical protest rhetoric. Police officers found themselves targeted with a barrage of repulsive projectiles – eggs, used toilet paper, and, shockingly, plastic bags filled with urine. The alleged perpetrators were participants in a counter-protest, fueled by opposition to a “Stop Mass Immigration” rally organized by the Canada First movement.

The situation, already tense with a planned separation between Canada First demonstrators and their counter-protesters – a coalition of Antifa, union members, and those regularly involved in pro-Palestinian demonstrations – took a dangerous turn. This marked a significant escalation, as authorities reported this was the first instance of such loaded projectiles being thrown during recent demonstrations.

Nine arrests were made as the protest descended into chaos. According to Toronto Police Association president Clayton Campbell, officers were also struck by a thrown smoke bomb, creating a volatile and “disgusting” environment. The atmosphere was charged with animosity, a stark contrast to the city’s reputation as “Toronto the Good.”

Toronto Police say nine people were arrested during a Canada First “Stop Mass Immigration Rally” and counter-protest.

Videos circulating on social media paint a picture of a near-riot, with police struggling to maintain order. Witnesses described a frantic scene of handcuffings, officers using bicycles as barriers, and a torrent of aggressive language. The intensity surpassed that of most demonstrations seen in the city since October 7th, 2023.

The Canada First founder, Joe Anidjar, ignited further tension with a speech on Nathan Phillips Square, stating that those who cannot respect Canada’s way of life should “go back home.” This rhetoric drew immediate condemnation from Toronto Councillor Neethan Shan, who accused Anidjar of deliberately spreading xenophobia and anti-immigrant sentiment.

Anidjar defended his position, asserting that the rally represented a diverse group of people united by a desire to preserve Canadian culture and identity. Despite the heated exchange, the fundamental right to peaceful protest remains a cornerstone of Canadian freedom, a right that extends to both expressing and countering viewpoints.

Lawyer and journalist Caryma Sa’d observed that police effectively maintained order while groups were contained within Nathan Phillips Square, but control deteriorated as the demonstration moved to Bay Street. Despite the unrest, officers successfully prevented the counter-protesters from disrupting Canada First’s march.

The cost of maintaining that separation was not insignificant. One officer was reportedly punched, and several arrests were made. Thankfully, no officers sustained serious injuries. Authorities are navigating a difficult balance, facing criticism for both excessive force and perceived leniency.

The Toronto Police Association expressed pride in its members’ handling of the situation, emphasizing their commitment to facilitating peaceful demonstrations while refusing to tolerate violence. Anidjar, meanwhile, signaled the possibility of future demonstrations, vowing to continue the Canada First movement’s efforts.

The events of Saturday serve as a stark reminder of the fragility of peaceful assembly and the potential for demonstrations to spiral into unrest. The challenge for both protesters and law enforcement lies in upholding the principles of free speech while ensuring the safety and security of all involved.
