SCARBOROUGH SCANDAL: Funding CUT as Police Launch Explosive Investigation!

A vital lifeline for Scarborough residents has been severed. The Daily Bread Food Bank has ended its relationship with Feed Scarborough, effective January 31st, following deeply troubling accusations against its founder.

The allegations center around the alleged misuse of funds and questionable governance practices within Feed Scarborough. Upon discovering these concerns, Daily Bread immediately halted funding, prioritizing the continued delivery of food to those in need within the community.

Neil Hetherington, CEO of Daily Bread, confirmed the organization didn’t hesitate to act. They engaged external legal counsel to conduct a thorough financial investigation and promptly shared their findings with the Toronto Police Service, who have now launched a criminal investigation.

Feed Scarborough reportedly blocked Daily Bread from completing a full audit, raising further questions about transparency and accountability. This obstruction only deepened the concerns surrounding the organization’s financial dealings.

Toronto Police have confirmed their financial crimes unit is actively investigating the claims. The situation has created a critical need to ensure uninterrupted food access for Scarborough’s vulnerable population.

Daily Bread has swiftly activated contingency plans, stepping in to directly protect food access for residents during this tumultuous transition. This includes establishing new food support locations and bolstering capacity through existing, trusted partners.

Soso World Ministries, already a valued partner operating multiple Daily Bread-supported food banks in Scarborough, will significantly expand its operations to absorb the demand. A new location operated by Frontline Connections has also been opened.

Suman Roy, founder of Feed Scarborough, expressed disappointment with Daily Bread’s decision but also offered a broader perspective on the role of food banks. He believes their existence highlights a systemic failure, and their absence would signify a true societal improvement.

Roy maintains his innocence, stating the allegations remain unproven and he is confident no funds were misused. He has proactively contacted the Toronto Police and pledged full cooperation with their investigation, hoping for a swift resolution.

Beginning in February, Soso World Ministries’ food banks will assume responsibility for distributing Daily Bread’s provisions to Scarborough residents, ensuring a continued, though altered, flow of essential support.
