SOMALIA ATTACKS: ICE RAID EXPLODES INTO RIOT! (WATCH)

SOMALIA ATTACKS: ICE RAID EXPLODES INTO RIOT! (WATCH)

A routine law enforcement operation in St. Cloud, Minnesota, erupted into a volatile confrontation Monday as hundreds of people surrounded federal agents. The incident unfolded after a local Somali news station began live streaming an ICE raid on a business within a bustling strip mall.

As ICE agents attempted to conduct their operation, they were quickly engulfed by a surging crowd of protestors. Hundreds of individuals, many from the local Somali community, converged on the scene, their voices rising in a chorus of “ICE out! ICE out!” The atmosphere became immediately charged with tension and unrest.

The situation escalated rapidly as protestors physically blocked the agents’ vehicles, preventing them from leaving the parking lot. Faced with an increasingly hostile and obstructive crowd, agents deployed tear gas in an effort to disperse the protestors and regain control of the area.

Crowd gathered outside Waamo Cafe, celebrating and capturing the moment on their phones, with a man animatedly engaging with the audience.

Amidst the chaos, Minnesota State Senator Aric Putnam was observed attempting to mediate between the protestors and the federal agents. He physically intervened, urging the crowd to maintain distance, recognizing the precariousness of the moment and the potential for further escalation.

“Don’t even get close,” Putnam could be heard saying as he pushed back against the advancing protestors. He later described the scene as “a stressful moment, a really intense confrontation,” acknowledging the understandable reaction of residents witnessing the activity in their neighborhood.

Despite his attempts at de-escalation, Putnam expressed strong criticism of the agents’ tactics, claiming the use of force was excessive. Visibly affected by pepper spray, he questioned the necessity of a large-scale operation involving numerous armed agents and tear gas for what he considered a standard law enforcement action.

The protest resulted in at least two arrests. Federal agents initially arrested an individual as part of the original raid, and later took two protestors into custody from the parking lot. The strip mall is a commercial hub for many businesses owned and operated by members of the Somali community.

This incident wasn’t isolated. Just two days prior, a similar confrontation occurred at the same location, with protestors confronting ICE agents. The agents temporarily withdrew, only to return on Monday, setting the stage for the larger and more intense protest that followed.

Footage circulating online depicts a large group rushing towards Department of Homeland Security agents during the raid, highlighting the overwhelming numbers involved. Concerns are being raised about the potential for similar confrontations to escalate if federal agents aren’t provided with adequate support and reinforcements.
