FOOD HALLS REINVENTED: Your City Will NEVER Be The Same!

FOOD HALLS REINVENTED: Your City Will NEVER Be The Same!

A new kind of dining experience has quietly taken root in Bonifacio Global City, but the story behind it is far more compelling than the menu itself. The Sundry Food Hall isn’t simply a collection of restaurants; it’s a carefully calculated response to evolving consumer habits and a bold reimagining of the traditional food hall concept.

Born from the challenges of the pandemic as a cloud kitchen, Sundry Food Hall has blossomed into a network of seven locations – España, Taft, Pasig, Commonwealth, Makati, Parañaque, and now BGC – each uniquely tailored to its surroundings. The BGC branch, nestled within GSC Corporate Tower, features a diverse lineup including CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice, 24 Chicken, Wann Mann, Bangkok Station, Potato Corner, and several other popular choices.

Husband-and-wife team Jai Reyes and Josephine Kamiyama founded the concept with a keen eye on data. They quickly realized that a one-size-fits-all approach wouldn’t work. Instead, they meticulously analyze search trends and delivery patterns in each area, partnering with restaurants poised for success in that specific location.

This data-driven strategy isn’t just beneficial for the business; it dramatically improves the customer experience. Imagine a single location offering a curated selection of cuisines, all available for a combined order and a single delivery fee. It’s convenience elevated to a new level.

The location itself is a key component of their success. By strategically positioning the food halls along busy roadsides with dedicated dispatch windows, they’ve unlocked a significant advantage for their tenants, boosting delivery numbers beyond what traditional mall locations can achieve.

Sundry Food Hall offers a compelling proposition for restaurant owners: reduced investment and accelerated expansion. They provide the space and common area staff, allowing tenants to focus solely on their kitchens and crew. It’s a streamlined model designed for rapid growth and mutual benefit.

Looking ahead, Sundry Food Hall is setting its sights on expansion southward, with plans for new locations in Alabang and Santa Rosa. This move isn’t just about geographic reach; it’s about providing their existing tenants with a broader footprint and increased opportunities.

Interestingly, the driving force behind this innovative venture, Jai Reyes, has a past life many might recognize. Once a star player for the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles basketball team, he now serves as commissioner for the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP).

Reyes views his transition from the court to the boardroom with a pragmatic perspective. He acknowledges the inevitability of change, drawing parallels between the discipline of athletics and the demands of entrepreneurship: consistent effort, learning from setbacks, and relentless forward momentum.

For Reyes, the principles remain the same, regardless of the arena. It’s a testament to the power of adaptability and a reminder that success, in any field, requires dedication, analysis, and a willingness to embrace the next challenge.
