A hidden season of stories is unfolding at The Mirror Theatre Studios in Makati City. The Company of Actors in Streamlined Theatre (CAST PH) has begun its 6th annual staged reading series, a unique theatrical experience where the plays themselves remain a secret until the curtain rises.

This year’s theme, “RE-ORIENT — Narratives from Asian Voices,” promises a compelling exploration of perspectives often unheard. Each Sunday, starting January 11th, a new play is unveiled, performed by a talented ensemble of actors and guided by a different director.

The first performance featured Sanaz Toosi’s work, brought to life by Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante, Justine Peña, Jordan Andrews, Chaye Mogg, and Mayen Bustamante-Cadd under the direction of Sarah Facuri. Subsequent weeks will showcase the vision of directors Jaime del Mundo, Guelan Varela-Luarca, and Caisa Borromeo, each with their own carefully selected casts.

With only 100 seats available for each of the 3 and 8 p.m. performances, an intimate atmosphere is guaranteed. The series continues through February 1st, offering a rare opportunity to witness the raw power of storytelling in its earliest stages.

The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra is also launching into the new year with a captivating concert. “PPO Concert V: Preludi” will be held on January 16th at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati, promising an evening of beautiful music.

Under the direction of Grzegorz Nowak, the program features the exquisite talents of soprano Andion Fernandez and pianist Szymon Nehring. Prepare to be transported by a carefully curated selection of pieces designed to usher in a year of artistic expression.

For those seeking a revitalizing start to the year, GH Mall in Greenhills is embracing wellness. Throughout January, the mall is hosting a series of sports and fitness activities designed to balance the indulgences of the holiday season.

From Table Tennis Academy sessions to the fast-growing sport of pickleball, there are opportunities to engage in friendly competition. “Motion in Glow” Zumba and “Step & Groove” dance sessions, along with rejuvenating yoga classes, offer a diverse range of ways to move and feel good.

On the big screen, a chilling new chapter in a familiar nightmare unfolds. “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” the latest installment in the gripping zombie thriller series, is now playing in cinemas nationwide.

Starring Ralph Fiennes as Dr. Ian Kelson, the film plunges audiences back into a world ravaged by the Rage virus. The story centers around a haunting ossuary, a place of solace amidst the chaos, and explores the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable horror.
