The unrest was ignited by a tragic incident on January 7th, when Renee Nicole Good, 37, was fatally shot by an ICE officer. Reports indicate she was attempting to obstruct an immigration operation and allegedly drove toward the officer.

Protesters have reportedly followed and confronted them, resorting to tactics like throwing snowballs and shouting obscenities from close range. These confrontations have, in turn, led to the deployment of pepper spray and tear gas by immigration officers.
The situation has drawn national attention, prompting a significant federal response. A senior U.S. official confirmed preparations for the potential deployment of 1,500 troops to Minnesota, specifically the 11th Airborne Division, a unit specializing in cold-weather operations.
This potential deployment adds to the existing federal presence in Minneapolis and St. Paul, where approximately 3,000 agents are already stationed following a large-scale fraud investigation that surfaced late last year.
