TRUMP'S FUTURE: CONSERVATIVES ON THE BRINK!

TRUMP'S FUTURE: CONSERVATIVES ON THE BRINK!

Growing up a Liberal in Alberta meant mastering the art of conversation with Conservatives – it wasn’t a choice, it was survival. You quickly learn that common sense isn’t the exclusive property of any single ideology. Every political group, from Liberals to New Democrats, harbors its share of extremes, its contingent of oddballs and questionable characters.

But Donald Trump transcends categorization. He operates on a plane of his own, unbound by the usual constraints of political calculation or diplomatic decorum. The revelation of a text message sent to Norway’s Prime Minister was a stark reminder of this unsettling reality.

The message, now confirmed as authentic, detailed a chilling shift in priorities. Trump declared that because he hadn’t received the Nobel Peace Prize, he no longer felt obligated to prioritize peace, but could instead focus on what benefited the United States. He then casually added his desire for “Complete and Total Control of Greenland,” a territory belonging to Denmark, not Norway.

US President Donald Trump holds a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Norway Jonas Gahr Store in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC, on April 24, 2025.

His second term feels less like a continuation and more like a descent into something profoundly different. The past year has witnessed proposals like absorbing Canada as a 51st state, the prosecution of political opponents, the militarization of American cities, and attacks on foundational institutions like the Federal Reserve. It feels like a decade compressed into twelve months.

While his first term was marked by erratic behavior – including two impeachments stemming from the events of January 6th and attempts to obstruct elections – it was, comparatively, restrained. He was surrounded by individuals who, while not always agreeing, offered a degree of stability. That buffer is now gone.

The signal is clear: Trump is prepared to dismantle alliances like NATO and abandon the pursuit of peace simply because of a perceived slight. This isn’t just policy disagreement; it’s a fundamental break with established norms. It fuels the growing conviction that he will not serve a full second term.

As predicted, the trajectory points towards either a significant health crisis – his well-being is demonstrably fragile – or a concerted effort to remove him from office through the 25th Amendment. The situation is rapidly escalating, and the stakes are impossibly high.

The question isn’t whether Trump is erratic, but why so many continue to support him, publicly at least. Privately, many conservatives express their concerns, but a pattern of deflection has taken hold. They claim he’s “just joking,” dismiss critics as “deranged,” or simply remain silent.

But these strategies may no longer suffice. Trump is now openly suggesting conflict over a symbolic snub. This isn’t simply political maneuvering; it’s a dangerous descent into instability. It’s a level of irrationality that demands a reckoning.

Conservatives now face a critical choice. Will they continue to shield Trump from accountability, labeling his critics as unhinged? Or will they finally acknowledge the truth: that “Trump Derangement Syndrome” describes only one individual, the man himself?
