A former stage performer, once known for his work with Spandau Ballet and the musicalWe Will Rock You, is vehemently defending himself against serious allegations in a London courtroom. Ross Davidson, 37, stands accused of rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault, charges he denies with unwavering conviction.
The case centers around an encounter with a woman in Thailand in 2019, a meeting facilitated by the dating app Tinder. Davidson, who performed under the stage name Ross Wild, told police their time together was marked by consensual intimacy and open discussion, describing a connection built on shared “kinks and fantasies.”
He painted a picture of a carefree holiday romance, fueled by both passion and alcohol. Days were spent exploring the sights and relaxing on beaches, interwoven with what he characterized as “debaucherous, fun, and free” moments. He insists both individuals were happy and engaged, and that he genuinely cared for the woman.
The allegations claim that the attempted rape occurred after a night of consensual sex. However, Davidson questioned the narrative, asking investigators why the woman would continue to spend time with him, sightseeing and enjoying the area, if such a horrific act had taken place. He recalled her even telling him she was “in love” with him, a sentiment he admitted wasn’t reciprocated.
Davidson described a night of intense physical connection, recalling a need to purchase more condoms due to the frequency of their encounters. He maintained that everything was entirely consensual, a “sex-fuelled night” where both parties were willing participants. He emphasized the absence of any coercion or resistance.
The woman’s account, presented to the jury, alleges that Davidson attempted to have sex with her without consent or protection. She claims to have calmly dissuaded him, to which he reportedly responded, “Thanks for being cool about it.” Davidson, however, dismissed this as a “fictitious moment,” asserting it never happened.
He detailed a mutual exploration of desires, a shared openness that defined their interactions. He characterized their time together as a period of “a lot of sex, a lot of alcohol, and a lot of fun,” a departure from conventional behavior. He pointed to exchanged photographs and “messages of adoration” as evidence of their connection.
The prosecution presented evidence of a video found on Davidson’s phone, depicting the woman lying “at least half naked” in a hotel room in Phuket. The video allegedly shows her being fondled while asleep and unresponsive, a discovery she learned of only recently, in 2023.
Davidson has pleaded not guilty to the charges stemming from the Thailand incident, but has admitted to a separate charge of voyeurism related to the same woman. He also faces a separate allegation of rape in London dating back to 2015, which he also denies. The trial is ongoing, with the jury now tasked with weighing the conflicting accounts and determining the truth.
