Juan Alvarado Aguilar, 37, now faces felony charges after authorities say he crossed the center line, directly colliding with another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle, 20-year-old Fletcher Mark Daniel Harris, and his girlfriend, 19-year-old Skylar Nichole Provenza, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Aguilar is currently held at the Rowan County Detention Center on a bond exceeding $5 million, charged with two counts of felony death by vehicle and driving while impaired. Following his arrest, federal immigration officials issued a detainer and administrative warrant.
