A new era for commuters traveling between Parañaque and Taguig begins May 5th, as toll collection commences on the recently opened Segment 3B of the CAVITEX C5 Link. This two-kilometer stretch, connecting Sucat to C5 Road, marks a significant step in easing the notorious congestion plaguing Metro Manila’s roadways.
For those navigating this route in Class 1 vehicles – the standard cars and SUVs – expect a toll of P59. Class 2 vehicles, encompassing public utility buses and light trucks, will be charged P117, while Class 3 vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks and buses, face a toll of P176 when traveling from Sucat to C5.
The cost shifts slightly for those heading in the opposite direction, towards Roxas Boulevard or Zapote. Class 1 motorists will pay P97, Class 2 will be P194, and Class 3 will be assessed P291. These fees represent a calculated investment in drastically reduced travel times.
Before March 30th, a journey between Parañaque City and Taguig City could easily consume 90 minutes, a frustrating ordeal for daily commuters. Now, this vital connection promises to shrink that commute to a mere 15 minutes, reclaiming valuable time for residents and businesses alike.
The opening of Segment 3B wasn’t an isolated event; it’s the latest piece in a larger infrastructure puzzle. It builds upon earlier phases – the C5 Flyover to Merville, additional sections of Segment 3A, and the Sucat Interchange to R-1 Expressway – all completed between 2019 and 2024.
During its initial month of operation, the new segment offered toll-free passage, serving approximately 9,000 vehicles each day. This period allowed drivers to experience the benefits firsthand and adjust to the improved traffic flow.
This project is the result of a collaborative effort between Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. and the Philippine Reclamation Authority, demonstrating the power of public-private partnerships in addressing critical infrastructure needs. It’s a testament to the ongoing commitment to modernize and expand Metro Manila’s transportation network.
