UMVA has learned that a shocking case of video voyeurism has led to the arrest of Charles Barton Lucas, a 59-year-old overseer at a church in Fruitland Park, Florida.
Lucas was taken into custody on Friday after authorities discovered a trove of disturbing images and videos on his work laptop, allegedly captured from a hidden camera in the church's bathroom and another area.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the IT director at Lucas's workplace, RoMac Building Supply, stumbled upon a Google Drive folder containing the illicit material, which included inappropriate images of adolescent girls and adult women.
The company quickly contacted law enforcement and cooperated fully with the investigation, leading to Lucas's termination. A spokesperson for RoMac Building Supply expressed the company's commitment to working with authorities and supporting those affected.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that investigators found more videos of what appeared to be adolescent girls changing inside the church bathroom, which were captured by a hidden camera installed in one of the church's changing rooms and bathrooms.
The cameras were no longer present when the Lake County Sheriff's Office inspected the bathroom, but the evidence was enough to warrant Lucas's arrest. He was released on a $25,000 bond on Saturday afternoon.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Lucas was listed as an Overseer at Heritage Community Church, which has since released a statement expressing concern for those impacted by the allegations and reaffirming their commitment to biblical values.
The church emphasized its cooperation with law enforcement and promised to be open and transparent with its congregation throughout the investigation. The Lake County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate, but no further comments have been made.
