MAYNILAD UNLEASHES P30 BILLION MEGA-PLAN: What's Coming to Your Tap?

MAYNILAD UNLEASHES P30 BILLION MEGA-PLAN: What's Coming to Your Tap?

A massive investment is poised to reshape water management in a sprawling metropolitan area. Plans are underway for a substantial infusion of capital – potentially reaching 30 billion pesos – dedicated to critical water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.

The ambitious undertaking, slated for 2026, will focus on three key areas: boosting water production capacity, expanding wastewater treatment services, and aggressively tackling the pervasive issue of non-revenue water loss. This represents a significant portion of a larger, five-year investment program totaling 163 billion pesos.

At the heart of this expansion is the near-completion of the CAMANA Water Reclamation Facility. This landmark project, a 10.5-billion-peso investment, will become the largest wastewater treatment plant in the nation when it comes online later this year.

Located in Caloocan City, CAMANA is designed to dramatically improve sanitation for over a million residents across South Caloocan, Malabon, and Navotas. The facility will process a staggering 205 million liters of wastewater daily, safeguarding public health and the environment.

This isn’t an isolated effort. The company already operates 23 wastewater facilities, and the CAMANA plant represents a major leap forward in its commitment to comprehensive wastewater management. Previous investments exceeded 30 billion pesos last year, signaling a sustained focus on infrastructure upgrades.

The company recently marked a significant milestone with its debut on the stock market, raising substantial capital through a landmark initial public offering. This financial strength is now being channeled directly into these vital infrastructure projects.

Recent financial reports demonstrate a strong performance, with net income rising by 18% in the first nine months of the year, fueled by increased revenues. This financial health allows for continued and accelerated investment in essential services.

The scope of this undertaking is immense, impacting 11 cities within the capital region, with partial coverage extending to additional areas, and reaching into the province of Cavite. Millions of people will directly benefit from these improvements.

These investments are driven by a commitment to provide reliable and sustainable water and wastewater services, addressing the growing needs of a rapidly expanding urban population and ensuring a healthier future for the region.
