Former President Trump has announced he will not attend this year’s Super Bowl, and his reasoning extends beyond mere distance. He voiced strong disapproval of the selected halftime performers, citing their past criticisms of him as a primary factor in his decision.
The lineup, featuring rap star Bad Bunny and rock band Green Day, drew sharp criticism from the former president. He described the choice as “terrible,” claiming it would only “sow hatred” and expressing outright opposition to both artists.
Trump emphasized that his absence isn’t solely due to his dislike of the performers. He stated the Super Bowl’s location, in the San Francisco Bay area, simply requires too much travel for his preference.
Bad Bunny, a globally recognized Latino superstar, has previously used his platform to advocate for immigrants. His song “Nuevayol” included a satirical portrayal of the former president, delivering a message of apology to immigrants and acknowledging their vital contribution to the nation.
Green Day’s frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, recently demonstrated his political stance by publicly supporting protesters against ICE in Minnesota. He firmly rejected any association with the “MAGA agenda,” making his position clear.
The former president recalled positive experiences at previous Super Bowls, mentioning enthusiastic receptions from attendees. However, this year’s event appears unlikely to offer a similar experience given his strong feelings about the entertainment.
