Fortunately, a video capturing these images was preserved, revealing an operating system that feels instantly familiar yet distinctly new. Aluminium OS appears to be a carefully crafted blend of Android 16’s desktop mode and the established foundation of ChromeOS.
The most striking elements are the taskbar and start screen, echoing the design language of Android 16. A fleeting view of the Google Play Store confirms access to a vast library of applications, expanding the possibilities beyond the traditional Chromebook experience.
Central to Aluminium OS is Google’s advanced AI assistant, Gemini. Positioned as a core component, Gemini suggests a future where artificial intelligence is deeply integrated into every aspect of the operating system, extending beyond Chromebooks to tablets and even smartwatches.
