Imagine seamlessly picking up where you left off – not just on your phone, but instantly on your computer. Last August, a glimpse of this future emerged as Microsoft quietly began testing a revolutionary feature: the ability to continue Android apps directly on your Windows PC.
Initially demonstrated with Spotify, the vision has rapidly expanded. Microsoft now reveals a preview build unlocking a far broader range of applications, bringing the “Cross-Device Resume” feature tantalizingly close to a full launch.
This isn’t limited to entertainment. Envision starting a complex spreadsheet on your Android device during your commute, then effortlessly resuming your work on your Windows 11 desktop the moment you arrive at the office. Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and even active web browsing sessions will all flow seamlessly between devices.
The convenience extends to cloud-based files as well. Users of Honor, Oppo, Samsung, Vivo, or Xiaomi Android smartphones will soon be able to open documents stored in the cloud, directly from the Copilot mobile app, on their Windows 11 computers.
Currently, this groundbreaking capability is available to Windows Insiders on specific builds – 26100.7701 and 26200.7701 within the Release Preview channel. While a firm release date for all Windows 11 users remains unconfirmed, the promise of a truly connected digital life is rapidly becoming a reality.
