IRAN ON FIRE: EU Declares War on Terror Unit – Germany Ready to STRIKE!

A seismic shift occurred Thursday as the European Union moved to formally designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. This decisive action signals a dramatic escalation in Europe’s response to the escalating crisis within Iran and its destabilizing regional influence.

The designation arrives alongside a fresh wave of EU sanctions, meticulously targeting Iranian officials and entities directly implicated in the brutal suppression of protests. Since December 28th, a violent crackdown has engulfed the nation, marked by widespread killings and a relentless assault on dissent.

Beyond domestic repression, the EU’s measures also address Tehran’s deepening military support for Russia, acknowledging the IRGC’s role in fueling conflict beyond Iran’s borders. This dual focus underscores the EU’s growing concern over Iran’s multifaceted threat.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hailed the agreement as “long overdue,” stating that the term “terrorist” accurately reflects the actions of a regime that crushes its own people with bloodshed. Her statement powerfully affirmed Europe’s solidarity with the Iranian people in their struggle for freedom.

Germany swiftly pledged to translate the political agreement into a legally binding listing, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul described the move as a strong signal, reflecting the sheer scale of the repression unfolding within Iran.

Accusations against the IRGC and its affiliated forces are stark: extreme violence against protestors, summary executions, and a consistent pattern of destabilizing activities throughout the Middle East. The EU’s action represents a direct challenge to these actions.

The human cost of the crackdown is staggering. Reports from the Human Rights Activists News Agency indicate at least 6,373 confirmed fatalities, with another 17,091 deaths still under investigation. The organization also details ongoing communication restrictions and a deepening economic crisis.

New human rights sanctions target key figures responsible for the suppression of protests, including the interior minister, senior IRGC commanders, police chiefs, and judges from revolutionary courts. Those involved in censorship and providing support to Russia are also included in the sanctions.

This move by the EU aligns with previous designations by the United States (2019) and Canada (2024), as well as Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, creating a growing international consensus regarding the IRGC’s dangerous activities.

Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, vehemently criticized the EU’s decision, defending the IRGC as a vital force in the fight against terrorism, specifically citing its role against ISIS. This response highlights the deep ideological divide and the regime’s unwavering support for the IRGC.
