A Florida woman’s father is making a startling claim: his 25-year-old daughter, accused of sexually abusing five middle school boys, is herself the victim. Alyssa Ann Zinger’s father, Josh Zinger, asserts her actions stem from a lifetime of severe mental health challenges and cognitive impairment.
Josh Zinger details a childhood marked by numerous diagnoses, including ADHD, ADD, OCD, Tourette’s syndrome, and anorexia. He describes a devout upbringing in suburban Tampa overshadowed by constant struggles and a relentless search for help through a dozen psychologists and psychiatrists.
A particularly low IQ score of 72, significantly below average, is central to the father’s defense. He argues that, legally, someone with such a profound mental defect cannot consent to sexual activity, regardless of the age of the other party, effectively shifting blame.
The case began with Zinger’s arrest in 2023, accused of posing as a 14-year-old online and engaging in sexual encounters with a boy between 12 and 15 years old. However, Josh Zinger paints a different picture, alleging his daughter was initially seduced by the first boy, whom he disparagingly refers to as “the little bastard.”
According to the father, the boy discovered Zinger’s social media profile, noting her youthful appearance in dance videos. He then allegedly lured her to his expensive apartment with promises of companionship, fully aware of her true age and mental instability.
Zinger allegedly spent months at the boy’s residence, where he introduced her to other school-age boys. Josh Zinger claims these introductions were deliberate, with the boys knowingly exploiting his daughter’s vulnerability. He describes a disturbing pattern of encouragement and shared exploitation.
The father confidently predicts a lenient outcome for his daughter, believing she will avoid a plea deal, sex offender registration, and receive only time served. He anticipates her release, a prospect that has already made her a target within the jail system.
Josh Zinger alleges his daughter is subjected to constant abuse by other inmates, finding disturbing objects – fingernails, hair, and plastic – repeatedly in her food. He believes this is a deliberate act of retribution by those who recognize her and condemn her alleged crimes.
Zinger currently faces multiple felony charges, including lewd or lascivious battery, molestation, possession and transmission of child pornography, and sexual cyber harassment. Her trial is scheduled for May, promising a deeply unsettling and complex legal battle.
Further investigation led to the identification of four additional alleged victims in April 2024, broadening the scope of the accusations against Zinger and intensifying the scrutiny surrounding this controversial case.
