The luncheon, held at Lincoln Ristorante in Manhattan, celebrated Jordan Peele’s critically acclaimed film, "Get Out." Mamdani appears alongside actor Daniel Kaluuya, filmmaker Shimit Amin, and his mother, filmmaker Mira Nair, in the photograph. The event was a significant gathering during Hollywood’s awards season.
This image emerged days after Nair’s name appeared in newly unsealed Justice Department records related to Epstein and his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell. These records, released in January 2026, detail the extensive network surrounding Epstein, but do not allege any wrongdoing by those mentioned.
A 2009 email within the released documents reveals Siegal discussing an after-party for Nair’s film, "Amelia," with Epstein. The gathering took place at Maxwell’s Manhattan townhouse and included prominent figures like former President Bill Clinton and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The email simply documents attendance.
Siegal, once a dominant force in entertainment publicity, wielded considerable influence through her connections to studios and A-list talent. However, following reports detailing her association with Epstein in 2019, several Hollywood studios severed ties with her.
Epstein’s initial arrest in 2006 stemmed from charges of procuring a child for prostitution. He ultimately pleaded guilty and served a brief jail sentence before his death in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex trafficking.
Nair, an internationally acclaimed director known for films like "Salaam Bombay!" and "Monsoon Wedding," has long been a respected figure in the film industry. Her work and presence have consistently placed her within elite circles, particularly in Manhattan.
