TEXAS DISASTER: Jeffries DECLARES GOP'S IMPLOSION – They're FINISHED.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries delivered a scathing assessment of Republican efforts in Texas, asserting their redistricting strategy has backfired spectacularly. He confidently predicted the GOP will fall significantly short of their goal to secure five additional congressional seats in the state.

The remarks came during a press conference at the Capitol, prompted by a recent Democratic victory in a Texas state senate race – a seat previously held by Republicans and carried by former President Trump in 2020. Jeffries was directly asked about the possibility of Democrats reclaiming four of the five contested congressional districts in Texas.

“Yes, Republicans done eff’d up in Texas, and they know it,” Jeffries stated bluntly. He explained the Republican strategy was fundamentally flawed, built on an overestimation of their position and a miscalculation of the Democratic response.

Jeffries pointed to California as a contrasting example, highlighting how Proposition 50 reshaped the state’s redistricting process and dramatically improved Democratic prospects. He anticipates a net gain of five seats for Democrats in California as a direct result.

While the outcome in Texas remains uncertain, Jeffries expressed firm conviction that Republicans will not achieve their desired five-seat pickup. He predicted they will struggle to even secure three seats, based on current performance indicators.

A recent special election in the Fort Worth area underscored this point, with Democrat Taylor Rehmet – a labor leader and Air Force veteran – decisively defeating Republican Leigh Wambsganss for a state senate seat traditionally held by the GOP.

Jeffries characterized Rehmet’s victory as a resounding defeat for Republicans, noting its impact was significant enough to draw the attention of prominent figures like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. He emphasized a consistent pattern of Democratic success and Republican setbacks since January of the previous year.

The battle over Texas’s congressional map is a key component of a larger national struggle for control of the House of Representatives. Similar redistricting conflicts are unfolding in Virginia, North Carolina, and California, as both parties aggressively pursue seats that could ultimately determine the balance of power in the 2026 midterm elections.
