TRUMP ATTACKER FACES LIFE IN PRISON: JUDGMENT DAY IS HERE!

TRUMP ATTACKER FACES LIFE IN PRISON: JUDGMENT DAY IS HERE!

The man who attempted to assassinate a presidential candidate at a Florida golf club now faces his reckoning. Ryan Routh, 59, convicted on five federal charges last September, will be sentenced Wednesday, with prosecutors demanding a life behind bars.

The chilling incident unfolded on September 15, 2024, at Donald Trump’s West Palm Beach country club. Routh, concealed within the shrubbery, aimed a rifle as the candidate played golf, meticulously planning an act of violence that nearly altered the course of history.

A vigilant Secret Service agent, providing security for Trump, spotted Routh before the candidate came into view. The agent immediately became the target, forcing a split-second decision that prevented a potential tragedy – the agent fired, causing Routh to drop his weapon and flee.

The courtroom drama didn’t end with the guilty verdict. As the charges were read, Routh reportedly made a desperate attempt on his own life, trying to stab himself in the neck with a pen before being swiftly restrained by four U.S. Marshals.

Prosecutors paint a stark picture of an unrepentant criminal, arguing Routh’s actions demonstrate a “near-total disregard for law” and the lives he endangered. They insist a life sentence aligns with federal guidelines and reflects the gravity of his crimes.

Routh’s defense is now pleading for leniency, requesting a sentence of 20 years alongside a mandatory seven-year term for a firearms conviction. His attorney emphasizes Routh’s age – just weeks shy of sixty – and argues for a chance at experiencing freedom before death.

The sentencing, initially scheduled for December, was postponed after Routh opted to secure legal representation for this crucial phase, a shift from his decision to defend himself during the majority of the trial. Judge Aileen Cannon granted the extension, recognizing the importance of thorough consideration.

The evidence presented at trial revealed weeks of premeditation, a calculated plot to inflict harm. Routh’s actions weren’t impulsive; they were the culmination of a deliberate and dangerous plan targeting a major presidential candidate and those sworn to protect him.
