A coordinated crackdown shattered the illicit operations of a powerful drug network stretching across Quebec and into northern New Brunswick. The operation, spearheaded by the Sûreté du Québec and bolstered by the RCMP, aimed to dismantle key Hells Angels-linked cocaine distribution channels and disrupt their control over territory.
Wednesday saw a wave of simultaneous raids, with police executing search warrants at 17 homes and 17 vehicles across both provinces. This followed an initial phase of operations last week, intensifying the pressure on the criminal organization and signaling a significant escalation in law enforcement efforts.
The scope of the seizures revealed a sophisticated and lucrative operation. Authorities recovered a staggering 15 kilograms of cocaine, alongside over $564,000 in cash – a clear indication of the network’s financial power.
Beyond the drugs and money, the raids uncovered a disturbing arsenal. Seven long guns, two handguns, and two bulletproof vests were confiscated, painting a picture of a group prepared for violence and determined to maintain its grip on the criminal landscape.
The investigation also yielded a wealth of digital evidence, with over 50 cellphones seized, promising a deeper dive into the network’s communications and connections. Investigators also recovered identifying items linked to various Hells Angels factions.
Among the seized items were jackets signifying membership or prospect status within different Hells Angels chapters – Nomads NB, Street Soldiers North Shore, TR, and Red Devils Maritimes – offering a glimpse into the organization’s internal structure and affiliations.
The haul wasn’t limited to traditional weapons and narcotics. Authorities also discovered 500 THC vapes and silver bars valued at approximately $5,000, demonstrating the breadth of the organization’s criminal activities.
Searches weren’t confined to New Brunswick’s Sainte-Basile, Edmundston, and Rivière-Verte. Extensive operations also unfolded in key Quebec municipalities including Montreal, Laval, Trois-Rivières, and several communities north of Montreal, highlighting the network’s widespread reach.
While authorities have been careful to describe the targeted organization as “linked” to the Hells Angels, the evidence strongly suggests a close and integral connection. This operation represents a major blow to their operations and a significant victory for law enforcement in the region.
