A vibrant new chapter is unfolding in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with the announcement of an $850 million project poised to redefine the island’s landscape. Hard Rock International, in collaboration with Misla Hospitality, Stonecrest Investment Management, and The Interfin Companies, is embarking on a venture that promises to be more than just a hotel and casino.
Scheduled to open its doors in 2029, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino San Juan will rise as a testament to the island’s rich cultural and musical heritage. Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-2026, marking Hard Rock’s inaugural destination in Puerto Rico and a significant investment in the region’s future.
The project isn’t simply about building a luxury resort; it’s about igniting economic growth. Governor Jenniffer González-Colón envisions a world of possibilities, emphasizing the creation of jobs and the bolstering of Puerto Rico’s position as a premier Caribbean destination for tourism, living, and global investment.
The scale of the development is impressive, encompassing approximately 415 guest rooms, 58 lavish suites, and 186 exclusive branded residences. Beyond accommodation, the complex will feature state-of-the-art event venues, a professional recording studio, and a curated collection of local memorabilia.
This ambitious undertaking is projected to generate over 2,500 construction jobs, providing immediate economic stimulus. Once complete, the resort will offer 1,250 permanent positions, solidifying its long-term commitment to the local community.
Notably, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino San Juan will be the first integrated casino resort in Puerto Rico, setting a new standard for entertainment and hospitality. The design, spearheaded by Klai Juba Wald and CMA Architects, will seamlessly blend modern luxury with the island’s unique artistic spirit.
Jeff Hook, Chief Operating Officer at Hard Rock International, eloquently captured the essence of this partnership: “Music is at the heart of both Hard Rock and Puerto Rico, making this a perfect union.” He envisions San Juan as a natural extension of the Hard Rock experience, welcoming both visitors and locals to immerse themselves in the island’s dynamic cultural landscape.
More than just a resort, this project represents a celebration of Puerto Rican identity, a commitment to economic prosperity, and a harmonious blend of music, art, and hospitality. It’s a destination designed to resonate with the soul of the island and captivate the hearts of all who experience it.
