Utilizing tracking technology, the vehicle’s location was pinpointed, prompting a call to police. Officers quickly located the stolen car in the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue, initiating a pursuit.
The situation escalated as officers attempted to intercept the stolen vehicle, resulting in a collision and the car coming to rest in a snowbank. The driver immediately fled on foot, triggering a chase.
After a brief pursuit, one suspect was apprehended. Investigators soon discovered a second individual was already in custody, facing charges in an unrelated theft, and was also implicated in the auto theft.
Christopher Cabus, 51, is now charged with multiple breaches of probation, alongside possession of stolen property exceeding $5,000, failing to stop for police, and dangerous operation of a vehicle. The charges paint a picture of repeated disregard for the law.
