A surge of creativity is about to engulf Pasay City. This weekend marks the return of ALT ART, bigger and bolder than ever before, showcasing the diverse talents of over 300 artists.
The driving force behind this vibrant exhibition is ALT Collectives, a powerful alliance of nine leading galleries: Artinformal, Blanc, The Drawing Room, Galleria Duemila, Finale Art File, MO_Space, Underground, Vinyl on Vinyl, and West Gallery. Their fourth edition promises a truly immersive experience.
This year, ALT ART expands into the expansive SMX Convention Center, offering a 5,000 square meter canvas for artistic expression. The increased space allows for a dramatic increase in both the number of artists featured and the ambition of the project spaces.
The exhibition’s Project Spaces are designed to challenge boundaries and ignite imagination. Expect compelling works from established names like Christina Quisumbing Ramilo, Buen Calubayan, Julie Lluch, and Mauro “Malang” Santos, alongside rising stars like Ben Brixx and Lesley-Ann Cao.
Multimedia artist Miguel Lorenzo Uy will be given a dedicated space to showcase his innovative creations. His work promises to be a captivating highlight of the event.
ALT ART 2026 introduces “Discoveries,” a brand new section dedicated to amplifying the voices of emerging artists. This platform will spotlight the fresh perspectives of JC Mariategue, Jomari T’leon, Allyza Tresvalles, and others, offering a glimpse into the future of art.
The layout itself has been meticulously crafted to foster a seamless journey through the exhibition. Forget rigid “booths”; the galleries have created fluid “spaces,” breaking down traditional barriers and encouraging exploration.
Each gallery has been given the freedom to curate a space reflecting its unique vision, resulting in a rich tapestry of styles and approaches. Yet, despite this diversity, a cohesive narrative binds the entire exhibition together.
Beyond the visual feast, ALT ART will host daily conversations at the BDO Conversations Lounge. From 2 to 4 p.m. each day, attendees can delve deeper into the stories behind the artworks and engage in discussions about contemporary art and creative practices.
This isn’t just an art exhibition; it’s an invitation to connect with the heart and soul of the Philippines’ thriving art scene. It’s a chance to witness the power of creativity and discover the artists shaping the cultural landscape.
