PRITZKER DEFIES BIDEN: Dem Revolt EXPLODES!

PRITZKER DEFIES BIDEN: Dem Revolt EXPLODES!

A wave of discontent is sweeping through the Democratic ranks of state leadership, ignited by a perceived snub from the White House. Governors Jared Polis of Colorado and Wes Moore of Maryland found themselves without invitations to a traditionally bipartisan dinner, sparking a political firestorm.

The fallout was swift and decisive. Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker declared he would boycott the entire series of White House events associated with the National Governors Association’s winter meeting, framing his decision as a stand against what he called “Trump’s corruption and hatred.” He publicly aligned himself with the excluded governors, urging his Republican counterparts to join the protest.

Leading the charge is Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, chair of the Democratic Governors Association, alongside Vice Chair Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan. A growing coalition of Democratic governors – including Gavin Newsom of California, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, and Tim Walz of Minnesota – have now pledged to abstain from the White House gatherings.

Eighteen governors collectively issued a statement condemning the President’s actions, accusing him of deliberately sowing “chaos and division” through the selective invitations. The move represents a significant departure from established protocol, abandoning the practice of including governors from both parties in these events.

The White House, however, maintains the President has the prerogative to choose his dinner guests. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt asserted the White House is “the people’s house” and, therefore, the President can invite whomever he pleases, dismissing the boycott as the governors’ “loss.”

The roots of this conflict trace back to a contentious exchange last year between the President and Maine Governor Janet Mills during a televised bipartisan meeting. The disagreement centered on transgender athletes and federal mandates, escalating into weeks of public sparring and deepening political tensions.

Governor Moore, the nation’s only Black governor, has suggested a more troubling motive behind his exclusion, hinting at racial undertones. He noted the irony of being denied attendance at an event his fellow governors hoped he would lead, particularly after recently leading a gubernatorial delegation to the White House.

The National Governors Association itself expressed disappointment with the administration’s decision. Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, the NGA’s chairman, announced the association would no longer facilitate the event, emphasizing its role in representing all governors – across all states and territories.

This escalating dispute underscores a deepening fracture in the relationship between the White House and a significant segment of the nation’s governors, raising questions about the future of bipartisan cooperation and the symbolic importance of these traditional gatherings.
