CHURCH WARNS: Power Grabs & Rotten Deals EXPOSED!

A powerful wave of calls for systemic change is building in the Philippines, spearheaded by Catholic leaders demanding an end to corruption and the entrenched grip of political dynasties. This movement gains momentum as the nation approaches the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution, a pivotal moment in its history.

The renewed push follows a recent commitment from President Marcos Jr. and legislative leaders to prioritize 21 bills, including a long-awaited Anti-Political Dynasty Act. A potential breakthrough, these measures are slated for consideration before June, offering a tangible path toward reform.

“This commemoration is unique because it centers on two critical battles – against corruption and against dynasties,” explained Clergy for Good Governance’s Robert Reyes. He issued a direct challenge to established families: relinquish power in the 2028 elections, allowing fresh voices and perspectives to shape the future.

While advocating for fundamental change, organizers emphasize a commitment to operating within the bounds of the law. Carmelo Caluag, Executive Director of Caritas Philippines, stressed the importance of respecting the Constitution and pursuing accountability through established channels, rejecting calls for drastic measures like mass resignations or interim governments.

The rally, organized by groups like Caritas Philippines and the Trillion Peso March Movement, is firmly rooted in the principles of the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Kiko Aquino Dee, Convenor of the Buhay ang People Power Campaign Network, highlighted a deliberate focus on constitutional pathways to progress.

Preparations are underway for a series of events in Metro Manila from February 22nd to 25th, culminating in a major rally on the 25th. These activities include the launch of YSpeak 2.0, a platform designed to engage young Filipinos in critical discussions about current events.

The movement’s reach extends far beyond the capital. Eighty-six Catholic dioceses across the nation will participate in a nationwide commemoration of the EDSA People Power Revolution at 4 PM, demonstrating widespread support for the call for change.

This upcoming march is the third in a series, building on the momentum generated by previous demonstrations held on September 21st and November 30th, anniversaries of significant historical events – Martial Law and Bonifacio Day, respectively – each time amplifying the demand for a more just and equitable Philippines.
