PHL HOUSING REVOLUTION: Modular Giants Arrive!

PHL HOUSING REVOLUTION: Modular Giants Arrive!

A quiet revolution is underway in the world of construction, driven by a growing need for speed and sustainability. One American startup is at the forefront, quietly forging partnerships to bring a new approach to building homes and hotels across the country.

The company, specializing in prefabricated modular homes, is experiencing a surge in interest, particularly from those in the hospitality sector. Founder and CEO John Avrett explains that in an industry where time directly translates to profit, the ability to accelerate project timelines is invaluable.

Imagine launching a hotel nearly a year ahead of schedule – the revenue potential is immense. This is the promise of modular construction, allowing developers to begin realizing returns on their investment far sooner than with traditional methods.

Current projects are already in development in popular destinations, including La Union and Batangas, signaling a significant expansion of this innovative building approach. The speed is remarkable; a complete modular housing unit can be constructed in approximately three months, with the entire project, from start to finish, averaging just four to six months.

A key to this efficiency lies in the company’s 2,300-square-meter facility. An astonishing 90% of the construction process happens within its walls, dramatically reducing on-site disruption and labor costs. This parallel processing – building the modules while simultaneously preparing the foundation – is a game-changer.

Beyond speed and cost savings, a powerful environmental imperative fuels this movement. Traditional construction is a major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for a staggering 40% of the total. Modular construction offers a significantly more sustainable alternative.

The company currently offers two primary unit designs: the CasitaM, a 60-square-meter space with 45 square meters of living area, starting at P5 million, and the CasitaX, also 60 square meters, priced at P7.5 million. Both models are thoughtfully designed, offering comfortable and functional living spaces.

The CasitaM features a bedroom, bathroom, lounge, living area, and a private deck, while the CasitaX includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and deck. These compact yet well-appointed units represent a new standard in accessible and sustainable housing.

Looking ahead, the company is seriously considering the Philippines as a strategic manufacturing hub. The country’s young, skilled workforce, coupled with its growing expertise in industries like shipbuilding and aerospace, presents a compelling opportunity for long-term investment and growth.
