EDDIE BAUER GIFT CARDS VANISH SOON! USE IT OR LOSE IT!

EDDIE BAUER GIFT CARDS VANISH SOON! USE IT OR LOSE IT!

A ticking clock now governs the value of Eddie Bauer gift cards and loyalty rewards. Shoppers with balances in the Adventure Points program have until March 12, 2026, to redeem them at stores across Canada and the United States before they become unusable.

This deadline stems from the latest chapter in Eddie Bauer’s financial struggles – a new bankruptcy protection filing initiated earlier this month. The company, under the ownership of Catalyst Brands, is actively seeking a buyer while simultaneously liquidating its North American retail locations.

Many stores are already deeply discounting inventory, with markdowns reaching at least 60%. However, a crucial detail for shoppers to note: all sales during this liquidation period are final, meaning no returns will be accepted on purchased merchandise.

Despite the closures, the Eddie Bauer brand isn’t disappearing entirely. The e-commerce operations and wholesale business have been transferred to Outdoor 5, a longtime licensee, and are continuing to operate independently, unaffected by the bankruptcy proceedings.

Furthermore, Eddie Bauer stores outside of Canada and the U.S., and the brand’s intellectual property worldwide, remain under the ownership of Authentic Brands Group and are not involved in this bankruptcy filing. This suggests a continued global presence for the iconic outdoor retailer.

A significant question remains unanswered: whether North American customers will still be able to use their gift cards and loyalty points online after the March 12, 2026, deadline. The company has yet to provide clarification on this critical point.

This isn’t the first time Eddie Bauer has faced financial hardship. The brand first sought bankruptcy protection in 2003, following the struggles of its parent company, Spiegel Inc., leading to store closures. It successfully restructured and re-emerged in 2005.

The retailer again filed for bankruptcy in 2009 before being acquired by Golden Gate Capital. More recently, in 2021, Authentic Brands Group and SPARC Group LLC took ownership, demonstrating a continuing effort to revitalize the brand despite ongoing challenges.

Eddie Bauer, founded in 1920, has a long and storied history rooted in providing quality outdoor apparel. These recent events mark another pivotal moment in the brand’s evolution, leaving customers to navigate the changing landscape and utilize their rewards before time runs out.
