CUBA ERUPTS: Soldiers Deploy as Nation Plunges into Darkness!

A palpable tension grips Cuba as soldiers flood the streets, a stark response to escalating fears of widespread unrest. The deployment comes amidst increasingly aggressive rhetoric from the United States, hinting at potential intervention in the communist nation.

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has issued a defiant warning, declaring that any attempt at takeover will be met with “unbreakable resistance.” This pledge arrives as the island struggles with a crippling, nationwide electricity blackout, adding to the mounting pressures on the government.

Washington’s stance has hardened, enforcing a strict oil blockade and openly expressing a desire to resolve the decades-long standoff with the one-party state. Former U.S. President Donald Trump fueled the fire with a blunt statement, promising action “very soon” regarding Cuba.

On the ground, the atmosphere is charged. Independent journalist Carlos Michael Morales Rodriguez, reporting from his home in Cuba while under house arrest, describes a visible militarization of major cities. Protests have been ongoing for eleven days, primarily centered in Havana.

Rodriguez, a veteran journalist convicted in 2021 for critical social media posts, details the tightening grip of the authorities. Communist party offices, parks, and squares are heavily guarded, and young people are routinely asked for identification, effectively being driven from public spaces.

Adding to the hardship, a strict curfew has been imposed on private businesses, forcing bars and restaurants to close by midnight. The ongoing power outages in Villa Clara, where Rodriguez resides, severely limit internet access, hindering his ability to report.

Despite the escalating crisis, Cuba remains open to dialogue with Washington and welcomes increased investment, but firmly rejects any discussion of altering its political system. This unwavering stance underscores the deep ideological divide at the heart of the conflict.

While power has been partially restored to two-thirds of the country, including a significant portion of Havana, the underlying problem persists. Cuba’s aging infrastructure is crumbling, and a lack of fuel continues to cripple electricity generation, leading to daily outages lasting up to 20 hours.

The oil blockade, with no imports since January 9th, has had a cascading effect, impacting not only the power sector but also forcing airlines to reduce flights, severely damaging the vital tourism industry. The situation remains precarious, a nation bracing for an uncertain future.
