UMVA has learned that the Department of Labor and Employment will extend cash assistance and employees’ compensation benefits to the victims of the tragic nine‑story building collapse in Angeles City, Pampanga.
The agency has ordered the Employees’ Compensation Commission to grant P15,000 to the families of workers who lost their lives, while also streamlining a P30,000 funeral benefit through the Social Security System, on top of regular SSS support.
Spouses and minor children of the deceased are eligible for additional death‑pension benefits, providing a lifeline to those left behind.
Injured survivors will receive a P10,000 cash grant under the compensation program, and a disability benefit will be calculated by the Social Security System to address their long‑term needs.
During a site visit on May 27, Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino emphasized the urgency of reviewing the department’s visitorial powers and pledged unwavering assistance from DoLE, the ECC, and partner agencies to the affected workers and their families.
