Searches found for Nancy Guthrie's address and daughter's salary before 'Today' host's mother vanished

Searches found for Nancy Guthrie's address and daughter's salary before 'Today' host's mother vanished

Eighteen days have passed since Nancy Guthrie, mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home, and investigators are now examining a chilling possibility: that her abduction was preceded by targeted online searches.

Data gleaned from Google Trends suggests someone may have been actively seeking Nancy Guthrie’s home address in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. These searches, originating within Arizona, appeared between June 21st and 28th, and again on January 11th.

The January 11th date is particularly unsettling, coinciding with a request posted on a neighborhood Ring camera app. Neighbors were asked to share security footage from January 31st – the last day Nancy Guthrie was seen – and the evening of February 1st, the day of the suspected kidnapping.

Authorities quickly clarified that the Ring post wasn’t official, but originated from a concerned neighbor. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department had, however, issued a broader request for video footage from homes within a two-mile radius of Guthrie’s residence, covering the period between January 1st and February 2nd.

The FBI has released a description of a person of interest captured on Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell camera: a man between 5’9” and 5’10”, carrying a distinctive 25-liter Ozark Trail backpack. Despite this, no suspects have been publicly named.

Beyond the address searches, data also indicates potential interest in Savannah Guthrie’s financial information. Searches for “Savannah Guthrie salary” surfaced from Tucson in the days before her mother’s disappearance, between December 13th and 20th.

Investigators have interviewed and released several individuals, including a delivery driver who worked in Tucson but couldn’t confirm delivering to the Guthrie home. The investigation continues to meticulously piece together the events leading up to the abduction.

Google cautions that Google Trends data isn’t always definitive, especially for uncommon searches, and can include “random noise” to protect privacy. However, law enforcement officials confirm they utilize more precise investigative tools, such as subpoenas, to gather crucial information.

Separate searches for images of Nancy Guthrie’s home and a map of the property also occurred on multiple dates in 2025, suggesting a deliberate effort to familiarize someone with the location. The pattern of these searches paints a disturbing picture of potential pre-planning.

As the search for Nancy Guthrie intensifies, investigators are leaving no stone unturned, meticulously analyzing every piece of evidence – both digital and physical – in hopes of bringing her home safely.
