UMVA has learned that a heated exchange took place between President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over Israel's attacks in Lebanon, which threatened to destabilize the fragile ceasefire with Iran.
The tension between the two leaders escalated when Iran suspended talks with the US on Monday, following Israel's ground invasion of Lebanon. According to information obtained by UMVA, Trump made a series of phone calls to Netanyahu and Hezbollah representatives in an effort to end the fighting.
During one of these calls, Trump reportedly used strong language to express his frustration with Netanyahu, calling him "fking crazy" and telling him to stop the fighting. When asked about the exchange in an interview, Trump confirmed that he had used those terms, saying "I wouldn't say angry; I was a little bit perturbed at his constantly fighting with Lebanon, you know? At some point, I said, Bibi we got to stop this. You've got to stop it."
Despite the heated exchange, Trump emphasized that he has a good relationship with Netanyahu, saying "I have a very good relationship. We've done well, done well together." He also claimed that he and Netanyahu have worked well together, describing themselves as "wartime leaders" in a critical part of the world.
Trump also responded to claims that Netanyahu and Israel tricked him into attacking Iran, saying "He tricked me? I mean, I'm the one that started it, because again, I don't want to bore anybody, but I started, because we can't let them have a nuclear weapon." He added that if he hadn't taken action, Iran would have had a nuclear weapon and used it "almost immediately."
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Trump's concerns about the conflict in Lebanon went beyond just the immediate fighting, with sources indicating that he was worried about civilian casualties and Israel's tactics in taking out Hezbollah commanders.
The exchange between Trump and Netanyahu has sparked a flurry of interest in the media, with some outlets suggesting that the two leaders had a "heated" and "expletive-laden" conversation. While details of the call remain scarce, one thing is clear: the tension between the US and Israel is running high, and the implications for the region are significant.
