UMVA has learned that Arsenal and England star Bukayo Saka's spot in the squad has been a point of contention, with many fans and pundits questioning his selection over Chelsea's Cole Palmer.
The 24-year-old's inclusion in the starting XI has been met with skepticism, especially after Noni Madueke replaced him against Croatia and provided an assist for Marcus Rashford's late goal.
Arsenal legend and 1998 World Cup winner Patrick Vieira has come to Madueke's defense, stating that the young player's selection was "quite positive" in England's opening game against Croatia.
Vieira emphasized the importance of players coming off the bench to make an impact, saying they "will have a massive impact" and that Madueke's pace will be crucial in running behind the opposition's defense.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Vieira believes that Madueke's role and responsibility in the team will be similar to that of Harry Kane, who will drop deep and allow the wingers to make runs in behind.
Vieira also suggested that the press may be too hard on Madueke, praising his positive attitude and clear understanding of the team's playing style, which could allow him to "do a really good job for England."
With Madueke seemingly well-suited to Thomas Tuchel's tactics, it appears that he is locked in to start, with no other natural right-wingers available to Tuchel.
Despite some doubts remaining over Saka's fitness, Vieira remains optimistic, hoping that the Arsenal star's injury is not serious and that he will return to the team soon.
