TEXAS SENATOR EXPLODES: They're DARKENING Skin in Ads?!

TEXAS SENATOR EXPLODES: They're DARKENING Skin in Ads?!

A fierce battle for a Texas Senate seat has taken a startling turn, with Representative Jasmine Crockett alleging racially motivated attacks from within her own party. The congresswoman, a civil rights lawyer, expressed shock at the nature of the criticism, stating it differed sharply from the attacks she’s accustomed to from political opponents on the right.

Crockett revealed to supporters her growing concern over specific campaign tactics. She pointed to advertisements that appeared to deliberately darken her skin tone, a move she immediately recognized as a troubling echo of historical racial dynamics. The congresswoman refrained from naming those responsible, but the implication was clear: this wasn’t simply political disagreement.

This isn’t the first instance of racial undertones surfacing in the Democratic primary. The contest between Crockett and state Representative James Talarico has already been marked by accusations and counter-accusations regarding race and its role in the campaign discourse.

The current controversy follows a previous claim made by former candidate Collin Allred, who alleged Talarico had made a disparaging remark referencing his race. Allred asserted Talarico had called him a “mediocre Black man” during their own primary competition.

Talarico vehemently denied the accusation, issuing a statement emphasizing his respect for Allred and acknowledging the sensitivity surrounding race in America. He insisted he would “never attack him on the basis of race,” and expressed concern his critique could be misinterpreted given the nation’s history.

The timing of these allegations is particularly sensitive, as early voting is already underway in Texas. The primary election is rapidly approaching on March 3rd, and voters are now faced with these serious accusations as they make their decisions.

Meanwhile, on the Republican side, a competitive three-way primary is unfolding between Senator John Cornyn, Attorney General Ken Paxton, and Representative Wesley Hunt, adding another layer of complexity to the upcoming general election. The outcome of both primaries will significantly shape the landscape of the Texas Senate race.
