A 27-year-old Toronto resident now faces serious charges following a police operation in North York last week. Officers, working as part of an integrated gun and gang task force, executed a search warrant targeting drug trafficking.
The search yielded a loaded handgun and a significant quantity of cocaine, allegedly intended for distribution. Authorities believe the seized items are directly linked to illegal drug activity within the city.
Joshua Samuels is accused of multiple offenses, including possession of a loaded firearm, unauthorized firearm possession, and trafficking cocaine. He also faces charges related to violating existing weapons prohibition orders and possession of over $5,000 in proceeds from crime.
In a separate incident, a brutal assault in the Earlscourt area has led to the arrest of two individuals, with police still searching for two more suspects. The attack, which occurred on February 9th, left the victim with serious injuries requiring hospitalization.
Lino Pagano, 63, and Linda Elmaleh, 57, both from Toronto, have been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, and aggravated assault. Elmaleh is also facing additional charges for violating a probation order.
Investigators are actively seeking two male suspects who fled the scene immediately after the assault. One is described as a clean-shaven man, 30-40 years old, wearing a blue baseball hat and a dark jacket with a white stripe.
The second suspect is believed to be between 50-60 years old, with blond hair, and was last seen wearing a blue medical mask, a black jacket, and blue jeans. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
A third incident occurred during a downtown demonstration on Friday, resulting in the arrest of a 33-year-old man. The accused allegedly assaulted a protester near Yonge and Bloor Streets.
Maury Cheskes faces an assault charge, as well as a charge for failing to comply with a probation order. The incident highlights the potential for conflict during public gatherings and the police presence required to maintain order.
Authorities are also searching for a 28-year-old man who was mistakenly released from the Toronto Regional Bail Centre. Details surrounding the erroneous release have not been released, but efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the individual.
Another case involves two men facing charges following an alleged failed robbery in Kleinburg. The details of this incident remain under investigation, but it adds to a recent pattern of criminal activity in the Greater Toronto Area.
