SUMMERS OUSTED: Epstein Scandal FINALLY Claims Harvard Heavyweight!

Larry Summers, a towering figure in American economic policy who served as Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton and a key advisor to Barack Obama, announced his retirement from Harvard University. The decision arrives amidst intensifying scrutiny surrounding his long-standing relationship with the late Jeffrey Epstein.

Summers, 71, a tenured professor and renowned economist, had been on leave from the prestigious university since November. This followed Harvard’s internal investigation into connections between faculty and Epstein, the convicted sex offender whose crimes shocked the world.

In a carefully worded statement, Summers expressed gratitude for his five decades at Harvard, recalling his time as both a student and a professor. He acknowledged the “difficult decision” to step away from his academic post at the end of the current academic year.

The fallout extended beyond Harvard. Summers also relinquished his leadership role at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government, and severed ties with several prominent organizations. These included OpenAI, Bloomberg News, and the Center for American Progress.

He framed his departure as a liberation, stating his intention to dedicate himself to research, analysis, and commentary on global economic issues. This new chapter, he suggested, would be pursued “free of formal responsibility.”

The extent of Summers’ connection to Epstein had been known, but a series of emails released by the Justice Department last year revealed a far closer relationship than previously understood. The correspondence spanned years, even after Epstein’s 2008 conviction in Florida for soliciting prostitution.

Epstein’s arrest in 2019 on charges of sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy sent shockwaves through the elite circles he frequented. His subsequent death in jail while awaiting trial only deepened the mystery and outrage surrounding his crimes.

Among the most damaging revelations were emails detailing Summers seeking Epstein’s advice on a romantic interest while simultaneously serving as her mentor. Epstein, in a chilling display, offered to act as Summers’ “wing man.”

Another email surfaced in which Summers expressed concern about potential workplace repercussions for men who made unwanted advances toward women. The content painted a disturbing picture of his attitudes and priorities.

In a previous statement, issued in November, Summers publicly apologized for his actions and acknowledged the pain his continued communication with Epstein had caused. He accepted “full responsibility” for what he termed a “misguided decision.”

Pressure on Harvard to sever ties with Summers had been mounting in recent months, fueled by the revelations from the released emails. The university faced increasing criticism for its perceived reluctance to address the issue decisively.
