HOPEFULS BETRAY AMERICA: Demand Iran Be Left ALONE!

A storm of dissent is brewing within the Democratic party as potential 2028 presidential contenders sharply condemn recent U.S. strikes on Iran. Accusations of an unnecessary and unconstitutional war are echoing from prominent figures, painting a picture of a nation potentially sleepwalking into a dangerous conflict.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t mince words, declaring the actions a “dangerous and unnecessary gamble with American lives.” She forcefully asserted that President Trump was pursuing a “war of choice” the American public actively opposes, a reckless display masked as strength that jeopardizes regional stability and America’s global standing.

California Governor Gavin Newsom delivered some of his most scathing criticism yet, accusing the President of deliberately manufacturing a crisis. He described it as “weakness masquerading as strength,” a calculated deception lacking any clear endgame and built on a foundation of falsehoods.

Newsom, currently traversing key early primary states like South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Nevada, emphasized a critical point: while Iran’s leadership must be challenged, it doesn’t justify an illegal war that needlessly risks American service members. He underscored the absence of justification offered to the American people.

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a leading progressive voice, echoed the sentiment, stating the American people are being dragged into yet another unwanted war by a president seemingly indifferent to the consequences. She highlighted the abandonment of ongoing negotiations that could have averted conflict, deeming the war unlawful and catastrophic.

The constitutional question of war powers is at the forefront of the debate. Ocasio-Cortez firmly stated that the Constitution unequivocally grants Congress the authority to declare war, not the President, and pledged support for a War Powers Resolution to restrain further action.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker joined the chorus, condemning the strikes as lacking justification, congressional authorization, and a defined objective. He pointedly contrasted the desire for domestic progress – affordable housing and healthcare – with the looming threat of an endless conflict.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro focused on the erosion of democratic principles, arguing the President acted unilaterally, bypassing the constitutional requirement for congressional approval. He acknowledged the dangers posed by the Iranian regime but insisted that doesn’t legitimize an illegal and dangerous war.

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg warned of the lessons learned from past conflicts, emphasizing that an unnecessary war, devoid of a clear plan, can unleash years of chaos and ultimately endanger America further. His recent visits to New Hampshire and Nevada suggest a keen eye on the political landscape.

Senator Ruben Gallego, a rising star within the party, brought a deeply personal perspective, recalling the loss of friends in Iraq due to an illegal war. He passionately argued against sacrificing young Americans for a poorly defined regime change operation, advocating for support of the Iranian people without risking American lives.

These unified voices represent a powerful challenge to the President’s actions, signaling a potential shift in the national conversation and raising critical questions about the path forward in a volatile region. The stakes, as these leaders clearly articulate, are profoundly high.
