A chilling mystery unfolded at WWE’s Elimination Chamber, as a cryptic crate became the focal point of the night. For hours, speculation mounted about its contents, a palpable tension gripping the arena.
Then, the box opened to reveal a coffin, and from within emerged Danhausen – a performer unlike anything WWE fans have seen before. Dancers accompanied him, a bizarre and captivating spectacle set to a Munsters-inspired theme song.
Danhausen’s entrance was a whirlwind of the strange and unsettling. He declared the audience cursed, presented a jar of teeth to commentator Michael Cole, and then, as quickly as he appeared, vanished into the darkness.
The crowd’s reaction was mixed, a blend of cheers and bewildered boos. The segment left many questioning what they had just witnessed, a feeling WWE’s Paul Levesque acknowledged, promising a follow-up that would be “a blast.”
Online, fans debated the debut, some calling it outlandish and brilliant, praising the decision to embrace Danhausen’s unique persona. Others found the ending anticlimactic, but agreed his presentation was undeniably striking.
Danhausen’s journey to WWE is a compelling one. He honed his craft on the independent circuit for years, building a dedicated following with his distinctive voice – a deliberate homage to late-night icon Conan O’Brien – and unsettling character.
He gained wider recognition with All Elite Wrestling in 2022, but found himself sidelined in 2024. After requesting his release, and a contract extension due to injury, he officially departed AEW at the end of February, paving the way for his shocking arrival in WWE.
Beyond Danhausen’s debut, Elimination Chamber delivered a night of intense competition. Rhea Ripley secured a Women’s Title shot against Jade Cargill with a dominant victory in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match.
AJ Lee, returning to singles competition after eleven years, dethroned Becky Lynch to become the new Intercontinental Champion. And CM Punk retained his World Heavyweight Title against Finn Balor, setting the stage for a highly anticipated clash with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.
The Men’s Elimination Chamber was a chaotic affair, ultimately won by Cody Rhodes after a shocking intervention by Seth Rollins, who revealed himself after unmasking a mysterious attacker.
However, the night wasn’t over. Drew McIntyre attacked Rhodes, only to be met with an RKO and Cross Rhodes. A furious Nick Aldis then announced Rhodes would challenge McIntyre for the WWE Championship on SmackDown, potentially leading to a four-way match at WrestleMania.
