The new chips introduce a refined CPU structure, moving beyond traditional performance and efficiency cores. Now, you’ll find “super cores” alongside “performance cores.” The super cores are engineered for unparalleled single-threaded speed, boasting increased bandwidth, a redesigned cache, and smarter branch prediction. Performance cores focus on maximizing power efficiency during complex, multi-threaded tasks.
The performance gains are substantial. Apple reports the M5 Pro and Max deliver 2.5 times the multi-threaded performance of the original M1 Pro and Max.
